 Just what I wanted June 28, 2008
Came nicely packaged. It was just as the picture illustrated. I was pleased to give it as a gift.
Nice for the price June 10, 2008
I ordered this after reading the other reviews that talked about how rich/expensive looking the finish was on this box. I think one review even said how it looked so much better than the photo online. The box I received looks exactly like the photo. The finish is very shiny/glossy and very marbled-looking. My husband liked the box overall - his large watches seem to fit fine (w/ the exception of a leather strap watch with a metal fastener. That watch face hits the plexi-glass when the lid is closed.) Also, we both agree that the lid has to be handled w/ caution. It will easily slam shut & does not prop open easily. For $40 though, this was a good purchase for my husband to store his many watches. It's not an heirloom piece - we'll likely replace it in a few years but it does the job for now.

When this case arrived, very well packaged and sooner than I had expected considering it is shipped from California, I was instantly struck by the handsomeness of the case. The lock, hinges, separators, lining, all of it is well constructed. I will be uploading pictures so that other perspective customers can see what I mean.
One minor detail that is enough of an annoyance for me to remove a star from this product is in the outer finish. While the case appears to be constructed of solid wood, the burlwood finish appears to be an overlay affixed to the flat surfaces and then sealed in a protective gloss. At some of the corners the burlwood overlay is slightly worn and has an appearance that is light in color and does not flow with the rest of the piece. It appears that before the cases are finished with the protective laminate they are stored together and experience some friction at the corners. That said, it does not detract very much from the overall finish and mostly gives it an aged, worn look.
As some other reviewers have mentioned, the top is made of clear plastic and not glass. I actually prefer the plastic as it is less likely to break and will be cheaper and easier to replace if necessary.
Another reviewer commented that the case that he received was not what is pictured and did not have a lock. When I look at the images currently provided by Amazon, the case pictured has a simple latch mechanism and does not have a lock. What I received, though, does have a lock and key.
Overall this is a well made storage chest that is very handsome and holds watches well. At $40 it is a pretty good value as well. I would recommend this case to anyone looking for an inexpensive solution to their watch storage needs.

I bought this for my husband as a Valentine's Day gift. It shipped the same day I purchased it and came in perfect condition. I felt that this item is fairly priced. My husband put his watches in it right away and hopes to save it as an heirloom.

I ordered the 10 watch storage chest with Burlwood Finish and was pleasantly surprised by just how handsome it really is. For the money (about $39) it just looks far more expensive. (Even my wife was blown away by the quality.) I have about 7 watches and they had been floating around in bureau drawers for quite some time. I love the cushion pads that really helps protect my humble collection. Even my most recent purchase, the huge Seiko "Orange Monster" diver fits with room to spare. It has a lock with a gold key that I will probably never use, but it adds a nice touch. I was also impressed with the packaging and shipping materials used. The chest arrived in flawless condition. Highly recommended!
